These pains include a wide spectrum from a very serious pathology in the brain to simple pathologies called tension headaches due to excessive tension of the neck muscles. Symptoms such as blurred vision, balance disorders, dizziness, vomiting, aggravation of pain at night or sudden onset of pain should be an alarm sign for the both the patient and the physician.
In tension headaches, patients complain about the stiffness of the neck muscles, the pain increases with staying put in the same position for a long time, and also stress induces the pain.
Findings such as limited range of motion in the neck, pain spreading to the arm with or during movement, decreased sensation and reflexes in the arms with neck pain may suggest neck disc diseases. Simple neck pain may be due to muscle pains associated with trigger points in the neck muscles and defined as (Myofascial Pain Syndrome).
Low Back Pain

Patient reporting increasing pain and worsening at night and cessation of sleep by the pain should be considered as an alarm sign and serious causes such as inflammatory diseases or tumors should also be considered seriously.
