Gastroenterology; It is a branch of internal medicine that deals with diseases of the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, anus region, liver, gall bladder, biliary tract, pancreas and the peritoneum.
Gastroenterology deals with the medical and endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as reflux of these organs, esophageal cancer, gastric hernia, ulcer, gastritis, stomach cancer, digestive system absorption disorders (celiac disease, etc.), spastic colon (irritable bowel syndrome), inflammatory bowel diseases (ulcerative colon, Crohn's disease), bowel cancers, hemorrhoids, jaundices, viral hepatitises (e.g hepatitis B or C) and liver diseases such as cirrhosis ,fatty liver, gallstones and pancreatic diseases.
Endoscopic procedures that are frequently used in the diagnosis and treatment of gastroenterological diseases are esophagogastroduodenoscopy and colonoscopy.
